Former manager has leaked my data

My team manager became my manager a few months ago. Before that I was managed by another member of our team.

My former manager left as they said management were bullying them but the reality was they kept breaching GDPR and not doing their work.

I was told in my one to one today my former manager has breached GDPR and one of my one to ones notes with our company office equipment were found in a locker as their new workplace they were working through an agency. The new workplace said they had not read the notes and sent the notes and equipment back to our office.

I am infuriated as now the GDPR manager and investigating officer have read my one to one notes and my manager will see them. I told my manager I have nothing to hide but feel uneasy people have to read the notes. My manager was very sympathetic and said it is like a diary is being read where you discuss personal information and that I can speak to HR if I need to and I am not to discuss this with anyone else at work.

I just feel disappointed. My ex colleague was a bad manager and did not resolve issues I reported and just moaned about the company in my one to one. I last heard off my ex colleague 2 weeks ago and they lied saying they left the new place saying they got locked in a property by a customer and then said the employer was being funny with them. They also told me they want to take my employer to tribunal for bullying and I have avoided talking about work as I don’t want to get involved.

They have betrayed my trust.

One to one notes don’t necessarily contain GDPR compliant information, what was in the notes? Was it confidential information or just general notes from a standard catch up?

It was a general catch up so no data about customers but the organisation is concerned as that data should not be left at a new employer. For all we know they may have other data at home that they kept. I don’t know why my colleague did it as notes should be uploaded to the HR system then destroyed.

Couod you be easily identified on the notes if so it is a data breach.
Have you reported this to your DPO ?

My name was on the notes. The DPO is investigating.
