Not getting invited to any interview outside of teaching?

I really do not want to stay in teaching but feeling like it’s my only option. I’m a supply teacher at the moment. I have been applying to other roles since last June and have not been invited to anything decent. What do I do ? Does it look bad on my job list that I’ve been just a supply teacher since last February?

Any tips? What would help ?

You have to de-teacher-fy your CV. Get a specialist CV writer to do it for you. I got Top CV to do mine and I got interviews from it.

I do think it does inhibit some employers because you are kind of type cast.
I guess it depends what area you want to get into.
Being supply wouldnt put me off as it shows you have been working.
Gaps in employment usually put me off. Either lots of or long ones.
I recruit to Admin roles and regularly get applications from school teachers.
I think it's important to focus on your transferable skills. Teachers have a lot of transferable skills such as managing challenging situations customer service skills (kids and parents are your customers) organisational skills.
That's what will get you interviews.

Look on charityjob.co.uk - there are education type non teaching jobs, and The Guardian. Agree with pp you need to deteacherfy your cv so think transferable skills, eg organisation, working to deadlines, management, reporting, speaking with a wide range of audiences etc etc.
