Job hunting and dyslexia

OK its my first day of being unemployed for almost 17 years. Left job at supermarket at the beginning of the month due to stress and bullying from store manager but was on annual leave til yesterday as had a foreign holiday.

I applied for JSA and selected long term sickness. I was never on the sick for stress but doctors' notes mention stress, crying and other negative things plus increase strength in antidepressants. Another colleague (who left 5 weeks before I did) was signed off for stress and the store manager refused to pay her even though union said she should get paid. This is the main reason I didn't go on the sick for stress when I should have.

Now I am dyslexic. In the past when I have filled in job application forms and mentioned dyslexia or ticked the box for "do you have any disabilities" - I never got past the application stage. Yet other times where I disclosed no disabilities, attended an interview or assessment morning which includes an interview. This includes places where I applied again a few months-years later.

I wonder why this is the case? In the past, a few days into starting a new job, I mention to a manager or trainer that I am dyslexic "oh why didn't you disclose this in your application?" I can't say "well you wouldn't employ me"

Any tips into getting back to work will be good.
