NHS pre employment check help please

Hi, I recently got a job offer and filled out the preemployment questions but I’m paranoid my conditional offer will be withdrawn.

The past 2 years of employment history is required. Over the past 3 years I have been ‘self employed’ however ive only been using those skills pro bono, not paid. As well as volunteering for a registered charity (these two experiences account for the required essential criteria hours that I talked about at interview).

However in the checks I cant provide a reference for myself surely? Instead I put my volunteering reference and last paid employment referee down but it’s just over 2 years ago and unrelated to the job requirements .

Will HR come back to me to clarify everything, or without the required info will they just withdraw my conditional offer?

thanks

In my bit of the nhs they would get those two references and that would be fine.

Can someone you did 'pro bono' work for give a reference? ( obviously won't account for all the time but will prove you were doing as you said)?

I had similar, it took a bit of time and HR weren’t very good sadly, kept asking the same questions and not reading the answers. Bottom line, it that’s what you have and you have been honest about your experience it should be fine but might be a hassle to sort out if you don’t fit in the usual box. Do ask your hiring manager for support if you need it to intervene with HR/speed things up. Good luck in the new job!

References for self-employed work are usually given by regular customers

Thanks for this. I was thinking that but would it be a breach of confidentiality/GDPR?

Thanks for your reply 😊 . It’s good they got back to you to clarify things, but sounds like it was a frustrating time to get it sorted. Thanks for the tip re the hiring manager. We have been in contact already so that’s good to know I could call on them if needed. Just paranoid they’ll take away my offer and this is honestly a dream job for me.

Well, I'm presuming you'd ok it with them first?
