Anyone done it? Is it easy to get work and maybe a foot in the door?

I'm currently a teacher looking to retire next year, I'll be 56 so still got lots of experience to offer.

I'd just want 2-3 days a week to top up my pension.

No real office experience but loads of transferable skills eg dealing with the public, good communication, some word/excel experience, good telephone manner, adaptable, highly organised, shows initiative multi tasker, get on with most people etc.

Eager to learn any new skills.

I didn't know NHS bank admin was a thing?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 28/09/2024 16:11

Yes it is, we have a few bank admin on our Trust Bank. Assignments vary, sometimes a lot, and then it can drop down, som are full time, others can be part time, most services are grateful for someone to fill in. A fair few of our bank admin then get recruited into permanent roles. You do need to be proactive in keeping in touch with the Trust Bank. Out Trust covers the whoel county in various services so we do use them a lot

our Trust used a lot of Agency admin , never heard of bank admin, but in recent years with the transition to a paperless system, our agency staff are phased out basically and retirees are not being replaced as a lot of our work is just done by us on our own system now. I’m not sure how much work other Trusts might have for agency/bank admin.

Our Trust isn’t taking on new Bank staff apparently. As someone above says, admin workers are being phased out due to a paperless system. There’s quite a demand for receptionists, but again don’t think they are using bank staff, rather employing someone permanent if there’s a vacancy.

Posted on 12 April? I wonder if it’s still current. Anyway, there is no harm in being taken on so apply.

It says the closing date is the last day of 2024.

I started working for NHS doing bank admin. Got assigned to 1 clinic and loved it. Gave me a good starter but then covid hit, clinics closed and they didn't need me anymore so i moved onto doing bank domestic during first lockdown and then back to admin afterwards.
Now 4 years into a contracted post. Go for it, it's great.
