So I currently work in a job where I have been for the last 5 years. Recently had a promotion and really enjoy everything about it and the people I work with.

Two weeks ago i was approached by another company and asked if I would be interested in an opportunity they had. I turned it down twice but they were bending over backwards to try and get me to interview changing their schedules to suit mine etc. Roll on interview was a success and they offered me the job. More money and more responsibilities. A overall great opportunity to progress well so I can tell.

Issue is I am so torn on what to do. I love my current job and really have no reason to leave except that I don’t think this opportunity would come around again. I have turned it down once already and they have come back offering a lot more.

Just so torn on what to do anyone else been In a similar situation?? How did you come to a decision??

Salary differences don't make these decisions any the easier - I'm seriously thinking about taking a £40k job over a £80k one.

Does the new company have good reviews?
Do you know any of the existing staff, the work culture.
If it's not toxic maybe give it a try.

Will the salary difference make a change to your living standards?

What's the salary difference after tax? Are benefits the same or more? Will you lose child benefit or tip over the 100k?

I know the company quite well but not sure as an employee. Would make a difference yes but I’m lucky that money is not a huge factor I guess. I would rather be happy than do a job I hate.

Don’t think it’s helped when people have said too me maybe they’re offering so much extra just because they are having difficulty in filling it.

About an extra £160 a month before tax. Would probably have an effect on benefits yes but not really worried about that. Would rather be happy with what I do for work which I am in my current role. Job previous to this one I did for 7 years and hated it. Don’t want to return to that again.

It's not enough money to risk your happiness imo.

I agree and it’s something I live by I would rather be doing a job I love for less money than a job I hate everyday. But that’s not to say I won’t enjoy it.

It is a step up and not something I think ild get another chance at. It’s close to home too so there’s no way a similar opportunity would come up again so close to home.
