Time off work

Hello! I need to book a Saturday and Monday off work in a few weeks (I work both days normally), as holiday obviously but on the Monday I am supposed to be at a training day for an area of work I have no involvement in so I'm not really needed anyway.
What is a good reason to book it off that they can't say no to? The reason I need it off is to go and see family to tell them I am pregnant and celebrate but my work don't know I am pregnant....

Why do you need a reason for a day off? If you're not involved in the work then you don't need the training, that's the reason?

Just request the leave? You shouldn’t have to justify it if you have enough allowance.

I take it you're in a close-knit team and your colleagues are likely to ask, in a nice way, what you're up to? And you're worried about lying? Just make up something light to cover yourself for now.

Congratulations!

Yes I'm in a close knit team and if I try and book it off they are likely to say I can't because of the training on the Monday - even though they know I don't need it. It's just because they can be petty like that. I can't argue with them either as it hasn't ended well for other colleagues

You're entitled to annual leave so it shouldn't be anyone's business!
But If you have to give a reason either say it's a family event or else it's personal and you'd rather not discuss further.
