Interview for a job this afternoon, do I talk money?

I currently work 4 days and week and am going for a full-time position this afternoon, only found out today so I am very nervous.

The job has a salary £4,000 scale and I've done my sums and it would not be worth the extra hours unless I got the the top two levels as it would take me out of benefits.

Should I mention this at the interview or leave it if there is a job offer? Also how do I calm my nerves. Trying to think philosphically that if its not meant to be etc.

Don't mention money at a first interview. If there is a scale the way to get offered towards the top end of it is to demonstrate that you not only fulfil all the criteria they are looking for but can bring extra, so be thinking about that.

If you get offered the job, they may ask you what you are looking for or may offer you a figure. If you're not happy with the figure, you can try and negotiate it up. If you go in before then saying that you wouldn't want the job unless you get towards the top of the scale you will not come across well at all - you may look as if you are assuming they'd want you, as if you are critical of their salary policy, or similar. Nothing to be gained by mentioning it before you get an offer or they ask you.

Calming nerves - do your homework about the job and the organisation, look at the job description, check what skills and experience they are looking for an have examples prepared in your head for when you have successfully demonstrated each of them. Breathe deeply, relax the muscles in your neck and shoulders, that's where you will be tense, and during the interview keep doing it, every so often make yourself aware of your shoulders and neck and relax them.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice. Money wasnt mentioned, neither were hours, terms etc. My nerves soon calmed once I got to the interview. I'm not sure the job was for me anyway. It's a long time since I've been for an interview, there was two interviewers both firing questions at me. I dont think I made a complete ass of myself but my skills didnt match the job.
