Maternity assistant

Hi,
looking for some acvice, i habe always loved the thought og becoming a maternity assistant. I reckon i would need to go to college to gain right qualifications (not sure exactly which ons if someone could advice me) also wondering what shifts are loke and if pissible just day shiff? As wouldnt be able to have childcare for night. thankyou x

I am not sure you would need particular qualifications for an assistant role but you would for a midwifery degree..

It would be shift work unless you were in the community and that tends to be more day shifts.

I would try and get some voluntary work to gain some experience and support your application.

Watch Emma Willis delivering babies, she became an MCA. Shift work is inevitable. You need to research properly.

Look on NHS jobs for maternity support worker roles, the person specification will give more information about the qualifications and experience needed. Some areas will have roles available on community (which are daytime only but include weekends) but you often need experience working in the hospital first.
