First full time job, feeling guilty

Next week, I will be starting my first full time job since becoming a parent.
I feel sad that I won't have as much time to spend with my dc.
Some days I won't be around to take them to school, and other days I won't be able to pick them up either. It's going to be a big change for us all and I really hope we can settle into the new routine well.

Youngest is 6 so I'm lucky to have been able to get by on part time work up until now. Working 10-2 has been a godsend and I'd love to be able to stay doing that.

Please someone tell me it will be ok.

I am in the same position, my youngest is now 3 and I have worked 4 days a week for the past 9 years since my eldest was born. I am really worried too about not being there as much even though it's a great opportunity.

I hope you get on okay and it all works out for you. Is your new role hybrid? Mine is so I'm hoping this will mean I will still be around a lot.

I'm in the same boat too. My eldest is 12, youngest 6 and I have been lucky to be PT for 11 years.

But life has got so expensive and we are living pay check to pay check and it's getting stressful, so I will be starting a new job FT in a couple of months. WFH one day and DH will have one day off during the week so not too bad.

But the guilt I feel is enormous especially for my youngest as I feel my eldest has had me around for years and he's not going to get that. I too hope it will be ok. I just keep on telling myself that it's the quality of time spent with them not the quantity!

Don’t feel guilty. My children have grown up now (age between 16-30) and I felt a lot of guilt at first when i went back to work full time when my middle child was 1 (had my eldest as a teen and i was mainly in college / uni until i started working full time when he was 7). Didnt help he cried a lot for 3wks at nursery, he spent a lot of time in the managers office sitting on her knee. But then he turned a corner and loved it. He’s at Uni now but he always loved school and would never have a day off. None of them remember being at nursery, all that guilt was wasted. They’ve grown up to be great kids, academically smart but just nice kids. Never caused me a moments trouble. You think all kinds in your mind, how it might affect them etc. I think them knowing their parents have good jobs has been good for them, especially my DD to know your career doesn't have to stop when you have children. Stop the guilt!!

You’ll get into a new routine and things will settle with time. It’s a big adjustment but it can work out ok 🫂
