4 months in - can't cope with new job

I started an admin role with local council 4 months ago. It's FT but I also clung on to a few weekend hours in my supermarket job just in case things didn't work out.

It all started ok and on paper is a great job. Security, able to work remotely. The reality is the work volume is unmanageable, I work across several teams doing a multitude of ever changing tasks using several different systems, one of which I just cannot use without making mistakes.
They all have their own priorities with zero communication between themselves or understanding of my workload. I am expected to be autonomous but just feel abandoned.

I have tried telling my line manager that
A) the volume is unmanageable
B) I am not learning enough to be able to do my job properly as the work is so diverse. It hasn't made any difference.

I am stressed anxious and about to resign. I
Could just pick up more hours in my supermarket job while I look for something else. I have also recently divorced and moved house so my resilience is on the floor.

Make a list of the systems and processes you haven't been trained on yet or are struggling with.
At the meeting jointly make a plan for the training with dates and names against every one.
Set a timescale and a date for further meeting.
Get it all written down and shared with manager and anyone else who needs to know

So sorry to hear things aren't going well - local authorities need great staff but unfortunately some managers are weak/under pressure themselves and don't pay proper attention to this sort of thing. I recommend having a look on your authority's intranet and find copies of the Induction and Probation policies - if not provided when you joined (all new staff and their managers should be aware of and follow them). They usually include checklists of the general things you should know by month one, month three and month six and provide a structured opportunity at those intervals for new employees and their manager to discuss progress and any concerns from either party. I expect you are on six months probation as a new entrant to local government - that's meant to ensure you make a good start in your role (but also an opportunity to let staff go if they aren't deemed to be performing so it's really important to formally flag concerns with you manager asap). And definitely join Unison - local stewards are (generally ) good at providing support and advice.

I joined Unison a few months ago and yes am under 6 months probation. When I was originally signed off HR did mention it may be extended as my managers discretion to allow for the 4 weeks I was off but there has been no reference made to it since I returned.
That being the case my probation ends mid November
