Employer wants to change terms of job offer

I have accepted a job in the NHS. All the employment checks have been met, references, occupational health, starter forms etc but now the employer wants to change the term of the contract. I'm waiting on a call to find out the full scope of those changes. I'm anticipating a reduction in the hours, or a change to the days of working but I don't know for sure. I'm just wondering what rights I have. Does the employer have to honour the agreed hours and days of working, and the salary, once the job has been accepted, and all the checks met etc. I'm literally at the point in the process of arranging a start date. Do I have to accept any changes they want to make? Thanks in advance for any guidance given.

Up until you have signed an employment contract they or you can ask for any changes, so they can do this, but if the changes don’t work for you then you aren’t bound to them and don’t have to take the job.

Contrary to what the first poster says, you don't need a signed contract for the offer to be enforceable. If the offer was unconditional, or it was conditional and all conditions have been met, there is a contract on the terms set out in the offer letter. However, you don't have any employment protection so, if they withdraw that offer and make a different offer, whilst you could take them to tribunal any compensation would be minimal. Of course, you can turn down the revised offer, at which point they will have the choice of sticking by the original offer or not taking you on.
