In trouble with boss

I am senior in a big company. I have been running a project for a while. Yesterday I clearly overstepped and said yes to something my boss would have wanted me to run past them (first time making this mistake). Boss is furious - as in lots of late night message furious. I offered to confess and withdraw my ‘yes’. That’s not been accepted. Phoned boss this am to apologise and realign - they are still furious and ‘will deal with me later’. They are refusing to talk to me until Monday. The strange thing is I have been doing this along time, and aside from being embarrassing for me there are no actual consequences to the mistake (which is why I didn’t think it needed approval - although I got that wrong).Feeling like a scolded child at the mo :(

Seems like quite a disproportionate reaction from your boss tbh

I wouldn't be happy either being spoken to like that

Try not to stress, let them sleep on things, you too.

Your boss's reaction is extremely unprofessional. Late night angry messages - do you think they might have been drinking?

You've offered a solution so the ball is in their court now.

Wow, that's such an unprofessional response from your boss judging by how you describe it. Even if there were consequences, telling you they'll "deal with you later" is not ok. Make sure you document that conversation somewhere, you may need to come back to it if they continue to be unreasonable.

Whether what you did was right or wrong this reaction is completely unacceptable.

Make sure everything is screenshot/documented.
