DBS & Right to Work checks - just noticed middle name on full certificate spelt incorrectly and is being queried

Am hoping someone in HR can help with this, please?

I have received a conditional job offer (hospital admin) that requires DBS/right to work checks (actually have a current DBS certificate but they need to process their own application). I presented all original documents a few weeks ago but have received an email today stating that "a different name" is showing on my birth certificate and I would need to explain. Assumed it was an error on their part but can't speak to them until tomorrow morning. However, I have just noticed that my full certificate shows my middle name spelt incorrectly as "Elisaboth" instead of Elizabeth. I hadn't noticed as I only received it a few weeks ago and have spent my whole life up until now - I am 60 - using my "short" certificate which shows the correct spelling. My last passport expired in 2013 (kept a copy of the photo ID page which shows it spelt correctly) so I'm limited on what I have. I have various other documents which show my name in full - middle name spelt correctly - HMRC docs, mortgage statement, NHS letters, driving license, but due to not having a current passport I need to produce a full birth certificate. I have copies of short certificate but not the original. It's pointless requesting another copy of my full certificate as it will just be spelt the same way!

Just offer to give them another document. What else will they accept?

So your long birth certificate and short birth certificate have your name spelt differently?
Can you call the registry office of where your birth was registered and ask their advice? It must be their mistake.

Thanks, yes, it's spelt incorrectly on the full certificate. I ordered the full version for a specific reason last year but then didn't need it so when it arrived I just glanced at it and filed it away. I've only noticed the error tonight, after receiving the HR email, the font is quite old fashioned and slightly blurry, it's not immediately noticeable. I'm going to call in tomorrow with my folder of other documents but am worried it will affect my job offer. As I mentioned, my short certificate is correct but I only have copies, not the original.

I wouldn't worry about it affecting your job offer. This is clearly an administrative error that can be corrected (with a little work) and it's not something underhand or something you've tried to hide

Not sure, am just going to check the DBS document list.

Check with the register office in the district you were born. If it's just a typing error on the certificate and it is spelled correctly in the register they can produce a new copy with the correct spelling.

I will definitely speak to the local office. On closer inspection, the details have been typed using an old style typewriter (I am 60, so many years ago) and I can now see that all the "e's" resemble an "o". For instance, my mothers occupation was a dressmaker but it looks more like "drossmaker" so that could very well be the issue.
I have a full driving license so I am hoping that will suffice for Group 1 docs.
