Handing in notice

I am going to hand in my notice tomorrow. Reasons for wanting to leave is the horrible manager who makes me cry. Dread going into work because of him. Yet head office deny he is horrible, - they think he's wonderful. Yeah wonderful to make staff cry and leave. As 10 staff have left since he started in the spring. Never cried so much in my life.

Going to keep letter neutral and short.

I have no job to start at the moment. I'm going away for 9 days on 5th Oct and on annual leave for 2 weeks of Oct, so if I hand in my notice in tomorrow - need 4 weeks notice, it will cover me for the 2 weeks of annual leave. Plus I will be able to enjoy my holiday more if I know I don't have to return to face him.

Also could I reduce my hours during the notice period? Looking to reduce from 37 hours to 30 by reducing a day.

I will be getting paid twice as its 4 weekly. Next Thursday (19th) and 4 weeks time (17/10)

I'm not sure I follow your timeline, but if you hand your notice in tomorrow, then your last working day would be the 2nd October, based on 4 weeks. Do you mean you will finish work and then go on holiday?

Just be sure you have accrued enough annual leave for your 2 weeks off, or you may find them recouping excess leave taken from your final salary.

I don't know about the reduced hours, you can only ask, they don't have to say yes. They can reduce your salary and leave allowance accordingly thoughso watch out for that.

Annual leave year ends 28th Feb. Still got 2 weeks and 2 days of annual leave which is unbooked or booked off later on in the annual leave year.

Yes but they will pro rata it. Have you done that?

If your leave year runs from 1st March to 28th Feb then you're only just over half way through the leave year. If you have 30 days AL to take over the year then you'll have 2.5 days to take for each month that you work for them. I think if you are planning on working until the end of September then you'll be entitled to 7 x 2.5 days ( end of October 8 x 2.5). If you use more than that then they can claw it back from your salary.
That's my understanding of it anyway.

I have 6 weeks and 3 days annual leave every year. Its booked as hours which works out about 245 hours a year.

How many hours have you had so far? If you leave end October you have 163 hours AL due to you from 1st march (8/12 x 245)
