Colds and bugs, working in care. Can you advise me?

Just started new career in care. We all have the lurgy. I normally just pop paracetamol and carry on.

Is it different in care? Do I need to tell boss or just carry on? I don't want to be off sick when I feel able to work, but I don't know if it's different in a care setting. I tried to Google protocols but nothing online

I carry on as you can’t be off every time you have a sniffle. Make sure you get your flu jab as you’re entitled to it.

If everyone with the lurgy was off during the lurgy season no one would be in work!

Well it should. But it doesn't. There aren't enough staff at is. I ask my staff to wear a face mask, but I can't force them to.

Check in your sickness policy.
Mine states 48 off after the last episode of D&V.
I currently have a cough and cold but wore a mask and let the office know so they could give my call to a chemo patient to another carer. X

i have 2 children with complex needs and the youngest is extremely vulnerable medically. Any carers know to ring if they are even slightly unwell as we simply cannot rake the risk and we will politely decline anyone coming through the door if they are ill. But that is in a home environment ( and we only get a few hours ) so easier to control.
