Work CFs!

Hi all!

You may remember my previous thread where I had posted about a colleague who ordered absolutely loads on a work meal out and then said he wouldn’t have ordered it all if we knew we were splitting.. (I can’t find it to link it!). Anyway, all quiet since then, but wanted to update as just speaking to another colleague today who said he’s been at it again. Another small dept had a little buffet for a maternity leaver, and everyone contributed who wanted to eat. Apparently he got wind of it, strolled in, loaded up a two plates (sweet and savour, was told he took about 3 cakes!) and then left!! 🤯at this point I’m not sure if he’s a CF, or if he can’t afford food at home. (He’s definitely a CF).. shocking. No one challenged him. I won’t be, it wasn’t my dept, so not my place to. It’s got around he’s a CF though. I’ve had a good laugh at it.

Any other work CF stories to make my evening go faster? 😊

No stories, sorry if that disappoints you.

Make sure that his behaviour becomes even more well known. Or stop inviting him to any social events and make it clear his behaviour is why.

@LlynTegid he’s not welcome out with my team again 👎🏼

I agree! Maybe they were in shock. It’s a small team, and he’s quite a domineering type man- you know the type. I won’t stand for it any more at my age, but I would have in the past.

I remember your previous post and hope the word about him spreads fast. He’s a greedy CF.

Payforyourowndinner · 27/08/2024 15:51

Not sure why that was deleted @bluedragonchilli !

I remember that thread! Glad work is getting around, he needs to be known about. So next time he strolls in somewhere he is challenged. He may be short of food at home, but my bet is he is a greedy fucker who feels no shame. I once lived in a house with a mix of men and women - the men instituted a system where we all contributed and bought communal bread and milk. Except - there was never any left. One guy in particular could eat a whole loaf by himself. He was particularly offended when it was pointed out we were effectively subsidizing him and were not going to do so going forward.

I also remember your previous thread

I have worked with people like this.
Never contribute to collections but the first to be up to get the cake !
Also same when having stated buffets, contribute nothing but happy to fill their own plate !
Freeloaders who don't know the meaning of being in a team.

In my first office job you used to buy cakes when it was your birthday. Instead of just asking for a normal cake from the local bakery one particular CF always used to order a huge eclair thing which came with loads of cream and jam on and was known as a Bismarck (for obvious reasons).

It got to the point where she became known as Freda “I’ll have a Bismarck” Bloggs. Occasionally she would order a sandwich Grin

Years ago at my workplace the senior managers would have a buffet if they had meetings and conferences with their ‘big bosses’ when they came to the uk. It was usually a hot and cold buffet (with proper plates - important detail) followed by a dessert which the caterers would serve after.

On this day there were 15 attendees and so 15 plates were provided for them to help themselves to food, and then they took it back to the conference room to eat. One member of the Global management team left to take a call and on returning found the engineering manager ( whose office was next door to the room, and was no way ever invited to the meeting) taking the last plate of HIS food into his own office. Turns out he did this every time buffet was served and thought it was his right to do so. Uk MD was enraged and at his CF behaviour and CF was not at all embarrassed !

Plenty of lazy, entitled people at work who slack off and don’t care if that means others like me need to pick up their work!

Sharontheodopolodous · 27/08/2024 21:06

I love to bake and often take in brownies or cakes for my colleagues
Greedy boss (thank god he's left) used to be the first to the staff room to get 'his' cake-not just one slice-he would often sit and scoff his way through half
He's on 5 times my wages and could afford his own
He could move faster than a rat up a drainpipe for a chunk of lemon cake

There was a thread two or three years ago about the manager who always took at least two weeks off over Christmas, yet expected one of her team to log on early on Boxing Day morning. Didn't even speak to said team member about it, left it in a handover email when not able to be challenged or questioned.
