Work Surveys

As a relatively new starter in a second manual job I've taken on, comprising 3.5hrs per week, I've been asked to complete a 12 question (plus comments) new starter survey. Is it reasonable of me to ask them if work time is allocated for it? There is no mention of this and there is absolutely no spare time in the role. It's a huge struggle to do the tasks I have to do in the time as it is and I feel pretty resentful about this kind of casual expectation of employees.

Is it normal to expect to do this in work time?

I should add, I'm resentful about the implication that you do this in your own time. It's sent to my personal email. The job is a merchandiser role. I am happy to do the work survey, as long as it is within work time.🤔

I guess it depends on how long it takes . A few minutes yeah no problem, more than 20 mins nah .

But that said it also depends on what the questions are (which I guess you won't know until you start it)
But if its going to be helpful to help you integrate and set up useful work apps it may be worthwhile.

Anyone else? Thanks p.p.

Do it in your work time, and send a polite email asking that they remove your personal email address as theyve obviously not updated their address book since contacting you for interview, and clearly work emails all need to be to a work address from now on.

it sounds like your company want to know they have good induction and recruitment processes, so they care about employees

I never spend more than 10 minutes on these things. They don’t want your honesty and insight, they’re just looking to tick a box. Do it during work hours.

do this survey and put in the feedback comments everything you’ve said. If there’s a subsequent work survey sent to your personal address reply to say they’ve not responded to your feedback in the first survey and can they action that before you do any further surveys otherwise it feels like an entirely pointless exercise with no pay for it

All work surveys I get are to my work email.
Forward it to your work email and complete it in work time if it's lengthy (although surveys should never take more than 5 mins to complete if they want people to respond!)
Put in comments about all future communication coming to a work email
