I have about five years of experience working as a Customer Service Advisor for both public (HMPO and NHS) and private companies. I am now interested in applying for a position as an Information Officer, where the role involves responding to Freedom of Information and Data Protection Act requests within appropriate timeframes. A solid understanding of GDPR is essential.

In my previous roles at His Majesty’s Passport Office and the NHS, I gained valuable experience and became well-versed in GDPR. Given my background and transferable skills, I believe I have a strong chance of securing this job. However, I wonder if I might be overestimating my qualifications.

BTW I a BA & MA from government department & law department (not a law degree)
But it seems & it's clear to me that most employers are looking more for experience than academic qualifications these days.

🤔 thinking of how to put myself forward as a strong candidate to be hired for this role pls help

Have you got the job description and person spec? For the person spec go through thinking of examples for each using the STAR technique. You need be specific about how you managed GDPR etc and what specifically your role was.

You sound like a good potential candidate so good luck.
