Had a total disaster of a day and would love to hear some inspirational career change stories from anyone who can share. Would just be nice to know that people do it and have made it.

Easier if you tell us what you do and your skills and experiences.

Otherwise, this sounds too much like coming from a journo.

Well I have posted before actually as I've left my career of 15 years. Just wanted to hear if anyone had actually made it work for them as I dont know anyone who has changed career, everyone just seems to tick along in their lane.

Gave up being a solicitor and now teach fitness classes like LBT & barre as well as yoga and Pilates. Love it! It can be done - many of us have 2 or 3 careers nowadays. If you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life.

What is your career of 15 years?

I don't check up on your other posts.

I left being a GP's secretary and trained as a speech therapist. Qualified when i was 42.

I gave up a well paid, flexible, family friendly, great pension job in the NHS to become a hair loss/hair extensions specialist, and I now make 3 x my NHS salary and I'm only working part time.

Thank you so much and so glad to hear you made it a success! I really want to find something I really enjoy and also dont feel dread!

Wow that's great. I've walked away from what people would consider a good job so I'm a bit worried about what next.

This really appeals.
Can I ask how you trained and if you can recommend a provider?

Following - am starting a career change soon after having a couple of years out following baby and redundancy. Some amazing stories here - well done all 👏

DH gave up being a pharmacist to become a journalist; BiL left law to become a TV producer and eventually a renowned academic in his field; I left teaching in secondary school to work in HE as a policy maker/ staff developer. Best move I ever made.

Town planner to occupational therapist. Much more person focused. Currently in a job I don’t love (work culture rather than the actual job which should be great). Thinking next move might be uni lecturer in this field when my children are older. I’d say defo do some work experience/ shadowing in a few things before taking the leap. I often think I would have preferred Physio. But here we are 😂
