Anyone here raised a grievance against a manager

Using a different name

Supermarket worker who is also dyslexic. Store manager took photo of products which myself and others never saw and put them on my file. No one else has ever had this done and more expensive stuff has been found in the back chillers out of date and - in the past. No photos of these were put into any colleague's file. I have raised the grievance as he is discriminating against my dyslexia which forms part of the Equality Act 2010. Then almost everyday he keeps banging on about these crates of stuff.

This is causing my anxiety to be sky high and dyslexia traits to show up more as too tired to use coping strategies. I have never needed reasonable adjustments to be made as I coped.

Plus the manner he talks to us is arrogant and soul destroying. Even customers have complained about the way he treats us on the shop floor. Had customers come up to me saying they will contact HQ to raise a complaint as think his behaviour is bang out of order. Plus his behaviour has made many including myself cry.

I had a grievance investigation and it was another store manager from outside our region that did this. Mentioned above and quoted the fair treatment policy that my employer has which is not tolerating any bullying, discrimination, harassment and any other behaviour that makes us feel low. He has no regard to this policy. Other colleagues have submitted grievances due to his behaviour. One colleague who was off for 1.5 weeks for stress caused by him he has withhold her pay. Union says that they should pay for the sick pay.

Investigating store manager asked me a question do you cry because of stresses at work or his behaviour. I said its his behaviour. Only other times I have cried is due to rude and aggressive customers - about 6 in my 17 years. 6 too many imo. No other colleague or manager has made me feel cry.

Its going to take about a week or so to get feedback and what actions will be taken. Hopefully he will be suspended at first then sacked as he has made decent managers leave in other stores he has managed.

Now he wants to go to a colleague's retirement do in early Sept and many including myself have crossed out their names. Its unfair for the retiree as she has been in the store since day 1 - 45 years ago. He is one that you can't have a word explaining that you are going to cause major issues if you don't pull out. Hopefully this will be done before the do.

Do you or have friends or family that raised grievances etc against a manager?

He doesn't sound like a good manager, but I'd be shocked if they suspended him straight away unless he's had multiple warnings before (no way of knowing). I'd expect him to be sent on some training courses and possibly a PIP. You may not be told any outcome/the details of the outcome because it's personal to him.
How is he discriminating against your dyslexia? What examples did you give? Has he been aware of your disability prior to this?
I would go to the party. It's not your colleagues fault and she is the one who will suffer. Just avoid him.

He is discriminating against my dyslexia as the way is treating those out of date stuff and the photo on my file. He asked four of us together in the back why did we miss these on code checking. We didn’t see them! Then he took me in the managers’ office and told me that he was going to put photo of the cases on my file. I said more/less the same thing as my colleagues in the group. The way he singled me out is discrimination. I’m not suggesting that he copies that photo and places that in the files of the other 3. Plus he keeps banging on about these cases to me. This is aggravating my anxiety and therefore dyslexia.

The investigating store manager who has been in store management for 18-20 years said he has never come across this behaviour from any other store manager. Stores have an allowance for waste- damages, poor quality and out of date. Normally in the past if stores go over the allowance and it’s not the staff’s fault - such as depot sending us 23 cases of mange tout where we sell a tenth of that in a week! We just have a chat about need to be more aware of dates.

He knows that I am dyslexic as probably read my file or other managers said it to him

I will be going to the do. Crossed off my name just to keep the peace.

If he does what you suggest - training and PIP then it will be in the company’s interest for him to relocate to another store. And not to be a store manager.

He has bulldozed his bullying and arrogance across the store and every colleague is suffering. Plus I’m one of the few full time colleagues and have to deal with him about 50-60% more than the average colleague
