I?m setting up an errand-running business and I want to market myself to busy families in Wimbledon/Wandsworth and surrounding areas who either need a bit of regular extra help to keep their lives on an even keel or someone reliable to help with one-off emergencies (like taking the cat to the vet when you can?t or don?t want to take time off work etc). I want to provide a really, friendly and local service; a bit of an alternative the ?lifestyle management? and concierge services which already exist but which I know some people find a bit off-putting.

I don?t really fancy trudging the streets putting leaflets through doors so I wondered where you would look if you wanted to use a service like mine or if you have any other feedback to help me reach my target audience, or in general ?

Hi, I help out with the Putney & Fulham NCT (ie, wandsworth) and you should try contacting our members as they are your ideal target - affluet abc1, all with young children and often working too. We have a newsletter (80+ pages) which takes advertising, advertorial, inserts etc, which would save lots of trudging around. Check out our website for more details

i live elsewhere in south london (let us know if you're expanding...) but we have similar mix of families. i'd look at noticeboards in nurseries, mummy-friendly cafes, places like that: and see if you can get whoever runs local baby massage classes, baby yoga classes, kids bookshops/toyshops etc to take a stock of your leaflets for clients to pick up (you can cross-promote their classes in return for them). there's some community mag that i've forgotten the name of called something like south london for families that's given away around us and has ads for this sort of service in too (it always seems to be given away in our local toyshop, have a look around).
also if your local GP has a community noticeboard you can use (or the vet for that matter, or drycleaners, sainsburys) - anywhere you are likely to be sitting stewing in a queue fretting that you haven't got time for this.....those concierge services are mostly targeted at City people who want someone to organise something flashy at short notice. if you can make your business feel like it's more family-oriented (and frankly cheaper) you'd be filling a niche in the market.
finally there is a Time Out for Kids book which specialises in services/shops/places to go for kids which takes advertising.
