Retraining in completely new field

I have had enough of work. I feel taken advantage of and there feels to be no end to the stuff that's been dumped on me.

I'm wondering about retraining in something I've never done before. My passions are cooking and travel. I'm a really good cook and I'm adventurous but bloody hell, retraining at my age seems insane!

Has anyone left the field they know to do something completely different?

Also if any chefs on here want to share what your typical working life is like, I'd be most grateful.

I don't want to completely rain on your dreams, but your post reminded me of this article (and there are lots like it):

If you want to leave your current job/career because of the reasons in your opening paragraph, I don't think retraining as a chef is the answer. Working conditions are pretty notoriously brutal.

Mumsnet has a retraining board you could peruse though:

The workers leaving their dream jobs

It’s great to have a job you’re passionate about. But some workers are walking away from dream roles, in search of stability and security.

Jesus not a chef. There’s is a shortage in the UK so you would always find work but it’s unsocial hours and very stressful.

Oh. I'm not sure what else I could do. I don't want to do office work and don't want to work with the public.
