Supporting team through redundancy- what's worked for you?

I'm supporting my small team through redundancy. I have some budget for things that may help plus can arrange paid time off for job hunting, interviews etc. We also still have access to the employee assistance programme for counselling.

This change came as quite a shock to the whole team. I'm familiar (from a previous work life) with the change curve, stages of grief, 'who moved my cheese' etc -

if you've supported a team through this, or been through it yourself, what most helped/would have helped you?

follow process, be honest, tell people quickly. This isn’t about treats or counselling.

I'm assuming that the actual formal process is being followed etc and you are looking at what else you can do to support them.

What's your actual role here? Have you been made redundant yourself? How well do you know each other? Are there alternatives to apply for internally?

I've been through this myself as a manager and as simply part of the team.

Bear in mind even if people are pleased to get redundancy packages they can still feel wobbly and rejected at times.

Most useful from a practical point of view is updating CVs and interview skills. Especially if they've worked there for some time, people dont know how to "sell" their transferable skills...or even what yhey arr in somecases. My last team found it helpful to be able to talk freely and share possible job opportunities.

Absolutely the formal legal process is being followed.

Yes I'm redundant too.
We're a close team have worked together for between 3-9 years.
No alternative roles internally.

With respect very little helps.

Yes, I understand that. Just wanted to reach out to try to make sure I'm doing everything I can to help and if people had experience to share, was keen to hear.
