Where to apply for senior jobs?

Back in the day I knew all the recruiters, moved every few years. Now my last two jobs have come through my network and that's been 11years so a long time since using recruiters. I am also in a different price bracket now / pushing director level.
I want to move role but it feels impossible.

Apply on linked in - no responses even when you do the whole form fill in not just easy apply.

Apply to recruiters - hear nothing

General search - nothing comes up as roles too senior.

How do people do this? I know I said my last two roles came through network and ideally that would happen again but they were quite unique situations.

It feels like the volume of online applications just means you get lost.

Because I am not currently a director a lot of the exec headhunters don't want to know but then my salary is now above the mid manager range.

Feel stuck!

Did you find any joy, OP? I am in a similar position. Coming to the end of a 15 month contract in a senior position and I can't find anything to move on to! Starting to panic.

No sadly not! Spoke to Michael Page who said exec level used to kick in at £80k but is now £130k! They also told me not much in my pay bracket. Keep looking...

Am in a similar position although already at Director level. Job market is dire at the moment. Lots of places putting recruitment on hold until they have an idea of what is coming out of Starmer/Reeves.

I had over 200 applications for one middle manager role in my team. Over 90 for a junior role. Both included candidates over qualified/hugely experienced for the roles. It is dog eat dog right now.

Good luck!

Honestly a bit of using network and a bit of luck through advertised jobs. Is your Linkedin up to scratch? You can put your profile as open to work to recruiters but not everyone else if you want. Some recruiters have pinged me through there with actual roles. I would also suggesting ‘liking’ posts from people at your target companies. Internal recruiters look at things like that for candidates.

Once I got to a certain level, all my roles came from recruiters contacting me on LinkedIn.

Spend time updating your profile and making sure you're using the right words so you'll appear in the right search results. Mark yourself as open for work. Make sure you're also connected to everyone in your offline network on LinkedIn
