Job hunting nightmare

I lost my job last year and have been looking since. It’s a nightmare process. You either never hear anything back or you get put through a long process of multiple steps and then get ghosted. Company recruiters are as bad as head hunters. It feels like nobody has any manners any more. The feedback is either non existent or really vague.

Friends and family try to be supportive but it’s hard to stay motivated in this environment.

Absolutely agree. I was made redundant few months ago. The process is exhausting.

I'm just entering my 6th week in a new job after 16 months following a redundancy. It is hard and some recruiters are useless as far as communication goes. But you just have to keep going (unless you have a private income.) Keep persevering, and good luck.

Job hunting is almost a full time job in itself.

They are always vague in feedback so no one can pick up on anything and hit the company round the head with it. It will always be 'another candidate had more relevant experience' or similar.

This morning I received an email from a company I interviewed with in April! The interview went well, they were enthusiastic and told me they would be in touch the following week to confirm my offer. I heard nothing from them until this morning where they told me that they had gone through a restructure and the role had been dissolved.

I had reservations about the role and company and so didn’t chase them for a response. I think it was a lucky escape but then I’ve secured a role with another company and so I can afford to feel like that. If they’d done this and I didn’t already have a job lined up I’d be pretty livid about it. It’s just so rude!

When I was looking for a job I messaged recruiters on LinkedIn (I was put forward for two roles not advertised anywhere that way), messaged managers I know on LinkedIn and checked jobs on LinkedIn every day. I rewrote my CV and drafted cover letters ready for applications.

It’s very stressful and due to circumstances at the time I was having to move quickly to secure something.

Good luck with the search! You only need one good offer and the one I accepted just happened to come up at the right time.

I'm sorry op. My DH has been looking for ages and it's really tough. It's the non feedback that cuts , very lonely and impersonal. He gets to talk to recruiters then they disappear.
Hope something comes up soon
