Do I go for this job opportunity?

I’ve been asked to apply for an 8 month secondment for a role a bit higher than the one I’m currently in but not sure whether to go for it. I have to decide over the weekend.

Pros:
-It’s career development - gaining experience and widening my network
-It’s only 8 months so my current role is protected
-It’s more secure than my current role as there’s more of those positions in the organisation
I know the team and line manager well who are all really nice
More money (but not a lot - about £90 a month take home)

Cons:
Mainly that I’ve only been doing my current role for 9 months and I love it! I have a great line manager, autonomy to create my own strategy and work load and have just started to implement and see the differences I can make. I don’t want to walk away from it when I’ve just started.
Love my team, my clients and my line manager.
The travel! I have to travel around the region in my current role but the new one is focussed on an area that is about 2-3 hours drive away, so all my appointments would be long distances rather than just some of them as it is now.
Anxiety. I am menopausal and the anxiety and imposter syndrome is off the scale! I’m just settling in to feeling like I know what I’m doing and the fear of having to start again is huge. Building relationships with new clients and filling some big shoes from the current post holder. Although my line manager and potential line manager both think I can do it.

So what does everyone think? Be brave, go for it, it’s not forever or sit tight in the job you enjoy?

Lots of extra travel for an extra 90 a month it'd be a no for me

I was going to say go for it until I saw how far away it was … so I would say stick where you are, although the experience may be good it’s not worth it for the money and travel hassle.

Honestly I think your current manager might be a bit annoyed if you apply for a new role 9 months in. I'm sure if they are good they will hide it, but I would kind of be reluctant to rock the boat for a secondment.
Maybe talk to your manager about it and see what they think.

This was a while ago. I did go for it but didn’t get it so no decision to be made. I’m still happy in the role I’m doing anyway.
