Second income - proof reading?

Hi all, hoping for some opinions and advice on the merits of proof reading as a second income.
I’m a single parent, solicitor, but relatively low income, in real need of some extra cash (nursery fees are crippling).
I don’t want advice on my finances.
Anyone out there doing proof reading as a second income?
How did you start?
Do you need to do a course?
How do you manage the work flow? It would be evening work after the kids are asleep, house sorted and after I’ve done whatever work is left over from my day job.
All advice and suggestions for how to get into this gratefully received.

I've managed freelance proofreaders in a previous job. It's never been well paid and I think is being increasingly automated now? Definitely do not pay for one of those heavily advertised courses.

It may be doable if you are using your legal knowledge ie for legal journals etc?

There are threads on here for extra wfh jobs that might be more realistic.

Thank you so much for your advice. I appreciate it.

I will look at other threads for other ideas of second jobs which can be done from home in the evenings.
