I've been offered a job which is subject to satisfactory pre employment checks this has been ongoing for two months I've had dbs cleared and 3 years of references now the hiring manager is questioning me about my short jobs I was made redundant and started out in a new career i explained this, and also one of my references said I had alot of sickness the job was very much a germ festation and I had some time off for my dependents aswell, I explained this the hiring manager said she'd get back to me now I'm worried as I have already worked my notice I know I shouldn't untill I have contract and job offer confirmed! Now I'm worried the job offer will be withdrawn 🤦🏻‍♀️

Why did you hand in your notice before you got the contract?

I had to give a reference from the job I was currently working at so they knew I wanted to leave if was awkward and they said I could work my notice I honestly thought after 4 weeks I would have the new position

Holy shit. So they effectively sacked you for leaving! You did t hand your notice in…they just started your notice period?

Sympathies I am in a similar position. Have told the new employer I won’t be available till August now as still only have a provisional offer. Can you stick with current employer for the moment? Explain you didn’t hand in notice ?

If your current employer sacked you because of the request for a reference, you have a case for unfair dismissal against them.
