Unexpected improvement plan

Hello.
I started a new job in February. I was unemployed for a four months before and it distressed me badly, both financially and personally. I was very happy to start a new job, I had six weeks training before I went to work on my own. Three weeks later I was on the meeting with my manager only 20% of my calls ( customer service job) was meeting required standard and I was put on informal improvement plan. I kept hearing from my bosses they admire my job ethic and passion. On the last meeting with my manager , less then three weeks ago, he told me I’m doing 75% right. I had another meeting Monday and I really thought he’ll tell he I’m off the informal improvement plan. Instead he said I’m on formal improvement plan now, as my admin wasn’t up scratch. It came as a shock for me, I didn’t expect it at all. Now I’ve got six weeks to improve my performance. I don’t understand why he’s never mentioned admin, always only about calls.
I was happy there and really thought things were improving. In the meantime I’ve been contacted by the other place, which I applied for a job , while unemployed. It’s worse pay and I’d prefer to stay with my current employer. But I’m not sure will I have a clarity anymore. I don’t know, what to do.

You need to talk to the manager to find out exactly what you need to change and if there are any other concerns that haven’t been raised. If you’re brave, you could ask them outright if they believe you can meet the required standard or whether to look elsewhere.

Thank you @Pepperama . He already said to me he believed I can meet the 80% required admin rate, as my calls vastly improved . But he’s been saying me how good I’m doing and now , all of sudden, I’m told I’m on formal improvement plan. I just don’t feel secure anymore, I don’t believe in what he’s saying.

I would find another job it sounds like they are trying to manage you out

As OP has less than 2 years' service, there is no point managing her out. If they want her out, they can simply sack her. It is, of course, possible that her employer is not acting rationally, but it is more likely that they are trying to get her up to the required standard.
