Universal credit/work hours/single mum

hello I don’t suppose anyone would know the answer to this or is in a similar situation.
I’m a single mum and have a 4 year old son, I work anywhere between 20-25 hours a week and have done since my son was a year old.
I receive universal credit but I’m just wondering if when my little boy starts school in September universal credit will try to get me to work more hours and then if that would effect the rent support they give me etc. I was preparing to go full time in September but my manager has said the hours aren’t there and I love my job and am settled, I wouldn’t want to leave if more hours aren’t an option. If anyone could help that would be great thanks :)

It goes by earnings rather than hours. If you earn over £896 per assessment period or something like that they leave you alone.

I've been 20 hours for the last 8 years since my daughter was 1 when I returned back to work after her dad left us.
I switched from tax credits to UC and not once have they ever said anything or contacted me to encourage working more. I simply could not as it's just me and her and no family to help and I pay for childcare always have done anyway, so it made no sense for full time. They will not say anything to you, if they did I would be very surprised!!
I wouldn't say a thing and just carry on with your part time
Hours if your happy and suits you.

UC operates on an “administrative earnings threshold”, which is a set amount you need to be earning above in order to essentially not be hounded to earn more money.

You can look it up, but I am pretty sure the current AET for a single person is the equivalent of 18 hours per week at minimum wage. As you are doing 20 hours you should be fine 😊
