Boss grabbed my arm

Wanted to get some perspective as to what happened a few weeks ago at work.

I work in a small company around 6 of us. Boss erupts very easily.

long story short there was an issue - it was an IT error so not my fault. Tried to explain it was a technical glitch boss went wild wouldn't let me talk kept shutting me down but I stayed calm whilst trying to communicate the issue.

My arm was resting on my desk and she came over and grabbed my arm with both hands pushing it down on the desk and said 'it's not fuckong right' I could feel her nails through my jumper. It all happened so quickly o didn't have chance to say 'get off my arm'

anyway she profusely apologised the next day.

there is no HR department she owns the company. Now when I joined they forgot to give me a contract but I still get my pension bonus etc after almost 2.5 years they have just presented me with my contract which is odd. Here is my issue it has a three month notice period and I want to leave due to this event obviously it takes time to find a new job I have just started the process but not sure what to say about this contract I l dont want to be tied in to 3 month period at this stage.

it's given me anxiety she scares the life out of me quite frankly.

any advice welcome

That's not acceptable. Phone ACAS and start looking for a new job.

I'd walk out. And make a constructive dismissal claim for her assault of you (to include reporting to the police).

Well if it took them 2.5 years to give you the contract to sign I would take a few weeks considering it, and if in the meantime you find another job, don't sign it. If you are pushed to sign it say you want a shorter notice period, you don't have to sign it if you don't like the terms. What's the worst they can do? Sack you, but you want to leave anyway and I assume they would want an orderly handover.

Its a small company - 2.5 years to produce an employment contract is ridiculous. Take your time, don't sign it and get another job. A week's notice is all you should need to give.

Thanks all - I thought it seemed like a coincidence that this is being drawn up just after this event maybe they think I'm wanting to leave

agreed it's ridiculous and without outing myself it is an industry that deal in employment contracts all of the time

I can't walk until I get a new job as I can't afford to do that unfortunately

speaking to a couple of agencies tomorrow so hopefully I can get some interviews lined up

I work so closely with her physically in the office I can't get away from her / I am not the only one she has blown up at but this event was the worst of them all - no one saw her touch me but they all heard her and said it was really awful

You should report this assault to the police immediately.
