12 month break from work

Has anyone deliberately taken a 12 month break from work for reasons other than having children?

There is no chance my current company would hold my job for me for 12 months.
I feel burnt out and like I need some time to myself and can currently afford to fund my lifestyle for 12 months without working. I think I would probably be bored after a while so would end up doing some volunteering in a completely different area to my current work, and when I am ready to start working again, I would be looking to return part time at a lower level than I’m currently at, but closer to home.

Has anyone done similar? How old were you and how easy was it to find a job after? What did you put on your CV to cover the break and how did you answer interview questions about it?

I have but I am self employed and also have passive income. It affords me enough money yo live on but not be extravagant.

I am 50 and hoping to sort out my weight and health.

Probably going to take another 12 months off too.

Not sure how I would feel if I didn't have passive income (not benefits of any kind) and was relying purely on my savings.

I work in the civil service, career breaks are quite common for any reason. But we have the advantage of not having to look for a jon at the end of it as we still belong to our departments when we return and they help place you somewhere or give you work to tide you over until you get a new role. Most importantly they pay you! (Career break itself is unpaid).

In your shoes I'd maybe plan 6 months career break and then look for work on the premise you'll be back in the workplace at the 12 month mark. Otherwise you could be stressing yourself out due to financial pressures if your ceiling is being able to fund 12 months out.

CV wise it's not uncommon for people to take career breaks. So long as you're not in prison gaps on your cv are fine so long as you explain it.
