Work for freelancers to fill quiet periods

We have been running our own quite specialist education business for years now. It’s tied up in government funding and for various reasons we haven’t been able to put up our fees in line with inflation. We are struggling and considering getting employed work but for now, while we work things out we need to at least fill our quiet period which is mainly summer. Any advice on kinds of jobs, where to look? Main focus is DH who is postgrad level educated , practical and techy. Just remember doing temp agency work but he’s rubbish in an admin office environment. Dont really know where to start… .

I'm sure there are lots of options. During Covid, my self-employed business was temporarily cut in half, so I had lots of time to look for other work to do. I tried a few things and ended up sticking to content writing for agencies.

The one I work for needs vast amounts of content every week, so there are often hundreds of articles available. You can just pick up as many or few as you want, and you get paid every two weeks. At first, the pay isn't great, but once you get to know the clients and work, you can write much faster. At the moment, I am doing articles worth over $100, and they usually take between 1.5 and 2 hours.

They do require excellent English/writing skills, and you have to stick to their format. It can take some time to get used to it and work your way up to a decent wage.

ProBlogger Jobs is a great place to start looking for content jobs.
