Miserable chemical engineer

Name change for this. My partner is technical and operations manager at a large chemical plant. He hates it. Unfortunately he is very good at his job, and meticulously diligent, and therefore is totally run down by the company ethos and lack of staff meaning he can't do a good job. He is paid well (although is doing two jobs so not paid well should they be split out again) at around £80k so it's hard to take the leap to another chemical engineering job which might end up being the same shit for less money. He wants to leave the industry but doesn't have the energy to figure out what he wants to do or how to get there. It's exhausting me too. Any ideas of what else he can do?!

Project management? Is he on LinkedIn?
recommend “ what color is your parachute” book and website…. May have some ideas.

@thesandwich yes he is on linkedin so he's keeping an eye on jobs on there. He doesn't particularly like people management - I think if he could have a good team he'd enjoy project management, and would certainly ensure it went well, but people issues are high on his current dislike list. Thanks for the book recommendation!
