Stuck in low paid job

I’ve been my current job for over 12 years and I’ve recently been feeling like it might be time to move on. I’m part time and the pay is low for what I am required to do/the knowledge I’m expected to have. It’s an interested and varied job with some opportunities to be creative and it’s the sort of job where others say that they would love to have. Progression opportunities are tiny/virtually nil but it could be a lot worse than some jobs.

AIBU to move on? I wouldn’t want to end up somewhere that I hated. As my pay grade is low, am I destined to remain in similar paid jobs? The higher paid positions are either full time or require experience I do not have.

Move on, nothing stopping you from getting a better deal!

I found that doing courses online or otherwise really helped with my CV, employers like to see initiative. Although time pressures not easy to find the time.

I've improved my salary substantially over the years simply by changing jobs.

I'm so sorry I was meant to create a thread of my own and I have accidentally posted this on your thread as a comment I do apologise!

Moving jobs is the only real way to increase your salary I think. I've been in the same job for 10 years, and for the first 7 years I got no increase. I am more now because I got a new manager so fought for me - but I reckon newer members of staff are paid more than me.
