Presentation for Consultancy interview - any tips would be so appreciated!

I currently work in an in house sales/marketing/comms role, in a specialist sector. I have a second interview (virtual) for a small consultancy where I would be leading the client services department, for clients in my sector. I have to prepare a 10 minute presentation on what I would do in the first month/6 months and 12 months of the role and I'm feeling a bit lost! One of the role responsibilities is to deliver confident, energetic & creative presentations to clients, so I guess that my presentation style itself is also being tested as well as the content.
I'm thinking 1 month - get to know everyone, shadow as much as possible by 6 months should be fully delivering on every aspect of the role and 12 months be innovating, developing new products etc. What else? Will they be expecting new product ideas and new market growth ideas already? And how do I make it interesting?
If anyone has any tips on what has worked for you, or what you'd be expecting in this situation, I'd be so grateful for your help. Thank you.

I'd split into deliverables (as you've suggested) but also include what groups of stakeholders will think, feel and do at each stage.

That why you can focus on your approach, show you can direct attention where it'll have the most impact first and cultivate trust in your expertise.

Bit of a wide brief so use it to show off what you're best at!

thank you, @nodogz that's a great idea.

Presumably you've already had a first interview? Did they tell you what their challenges and wants are in that meeting? If so, use that. If they've got anything on their website about their vision, use that too and talk about how what you'll deliver will help towards that vision or their other goals, if you know what those are.

I'd make sure you use good visuals. At the beginning of the pack say what you're going to say, then say it in the body of the pack, then summarise at the end. You need a graphic too showing the timeline in months with deliverables along the way, just the key ones.

I find analogies useful. So for example in a presentation about data once I used a photo of a really messy room to illustrate that our data was untidy and it was difficult to find anything and a photo of the same room, tidied, to say "we want it tidied and to be able to find anything easily" - people want a compelling story and something they'll remember. Good luck!

@QueenofTheBorg thank you for those great ideas.

Are you going to mention how you are going to learn about the clients and their needs? I think a research plan would be key.

I've had to do this before. The main things I got questions on was how I would interact/lead the team over the timeframe and around networking (both internal and external)

Thank you both, those are really helpful ideas. I'm starting to see some thing other than fog!

Just thought I'd post again to say it went as well as I could have expected - still waiting for feedback on whether I've got the job, but the presentation itself was OK. Thank you again for your suggestions, I got positive comments about mentioning management style, getting to know clients and keeping up my external networks in the sector. In case helpful for anyone finding this thread in the future, the feedback I picked up from the discussion following was that I should have specifically mentioned upselling client services and been more ambitious with my timescales on business growth. Since it's the first interview I've had for this sort of role, I'm pleased with what I've achieved, regardless of whether I'm offered the job and it's given me some great experience and confidence for next time.

Well done OP and thanks for updating. I hope you get the job and even if you don't, it will have been good practice!

I don’t work in a similar sector but had to do a similar interview recently. I did a Netflix style presentation which might be a bit more informal than what you are expected to do but they loved it!

In your situation I think they will watching your presentation style/creativity/persuasive power closely so definitely try to make sure the visuals are good.

The advice I would give is to think big for your final few minutes- I think it is better to sound too ambitious than the opposite. Even if what you say is slightly wrong or misguided then at least you will seem enthusiastic! Hope it goes well!

Just noticed you’ve already done it- well done on getting through it! Hope you get the job!
