If earning 90k at present and getting 5k net a month, what pay lift would I need to make 6k net (1k more than current package).

I work out it to be salary of 110k to gain extra 1k net a month?

Does this seem correct or have I overestimated.

Any help would be appreciated

There are reverse salary calculators. No idea what you’re paying in pension which will impact tax.

https://www.thesalarycalculator.co.uk/lifestyle.php

Going over £100k removes entitlement to free childcare (maybe tax free childcare too) which can be costly.

Do you have to be below 100k to get?

Yes, applies to both funded hours and tax free childcare.

PotatoPudding · 12/05/2024 20:41

You lose your tax-free childcare once you hit £100k.

Use a reverse salary calculator, which accounts for your specific situation.

FriendlyNeighbourhoodAccountant · 12/05/2024 20:50

Around 108-109k depending on the nature of your pension contributions and your tax code.

Is it definitely salary sacrifice or just auto enrollment? You never pay a rate of 60% tax so it's probably not helpful to look at it in that way, although I know what you're getting at. After 100k your personal allowance starts to taper off until you don't have one anymore.

Is your tax code (currently) the standard? Or do you have benefits coded, tax arrears collected, that kind of thing included?

Definetly salary sacrifice,,1257L tax code.

Yeah I am referring to NI loss over 100
How did you get it to 108k if you do not mind me asking

The reverse salary calculator I gave you gave a fig of £109k.

(I am slightly bemused that you can command that level of salary but not type “£6000” into a calculator provided for you. :-/)

Oblomov24 · 12/05/2024 22:31

I too am concerned that someone on such a high salary can't Google to find out to earn take home of £6k, salary would be eg £109,059.

OneSparklyGoldBear · 26/05/2024 23:18

Separate qu but there does not seem to be much difference in net between 80k and 100k?

20k minus 40% tax is £12k which is £1k a month.

Is that with NI cuts?

OP posts:

I’ve shared the screenshots of the deductions. It’s based on the current tax allowances and NI contributions. It doesn’t include anything for pensions or benefits because I have no idea what you have.

what do you do that you earn this level of income but can’t operate an online salary calculator?
