I currently work at a special school as a family support worker and have been there for 1 year. I like the school, children and staff and the job is OK. I don't love the actual job but it is OK, I don't hate it either. My dilemma is that I have been offered an admin role at my sister-in-laws company. It's been going about a year and is going from strength to strength. If I were to take this job, I would gain flexibility in that I will be home based and my husband also works from home. I would be able to do the school runs and attend school events again (my kids are still in primary), there would be scope for pay increases and increased responsibility but i think the wirk would be less varied and a bit mundane. Also I would lose the school holidays as I currently work term time + 3 weeks. My current line manager has just been promoted from assistant head to deputy so will have a new line manager, possibly external, in Sept and the school is being taken over by a new trust from Sept so theres a bit of uncertainty atm. Theres also not much room for progression as it's a small school. The pay would be very similar initially. Just looking for some advice really as I don't know what to do. Is the extra flexibility worth giving up school holidays?!

Never work for family. If there’s ever a fall out it puts you in a terrible position.
