I changed jobs last year and agreed an annual salary which whilst it was slightly less than I had been earning I was happy with.
Each month the take home varied slightly, we also get paid on different dates - we never know which date we will be paid on - so I assumed the variation was due to that.
They also decided to do daylight saving hours so we all went home an hour early, whether you want to or not, so I came in half an hour earlier so I could be sure to get my work done.
I got my P60 this last week and I earned £1600 less than my agreed salary.
I have looked at my offer letter and it says £xxxxx based on 40 hours weekly. I have realised that I was only rostered 38 hours a week most weeks and less during the daylight saving hours so I was paid for the hours I did as opposed to the annual salary monthly amount.
I would have happily done extra hours to make my week up to 40 had I realised, and I was made to do the daylight saving, as were all employees.
My query is is this correct? I am not on an hourly wage, so should I have received my full annual salary or been told I needed to do extra as opposed to them just not paying me the full amount?
Or should they have adjusted the rate or my roster so I reached the hours they were expecting?
Sorry it's a bit of a ramble, well done if you understand what I am trying to say!!
