Redundancy

While I was on maternity leave my job role got made redundant. I’ve returned to a new position on a 3 month trial which ends next week. I still like the company and the hours work around childcare, the pay is also good. I just don’t like the role as much as my old one and most of my old team have left, it just feels very different.

The redundancy is just over a years salary if I walk, or I sign the contract to stay. I am still so undecided with what to do. I’ve worked there 12 years so I feel like it could encourage me to step outside of my confront zone, I can also clear my credit, go on a nice holiday and still be able to comfortably live for 6- 12 months without working. I just worry with the current job market, then you worry about the little one too don’t you! I just want to make sure I make the right decision for him he’s only 13 months😫 Friends and family keep saying it has to be me who decides but it’s all making my head fall off.

It depends on the job really …

I see many posts on here struggling to find roles in there current industry .

Again are you likely to find the hours that fit around your childcare .

I think maybe because they really want me to stay, they are perhaps scaring me a little on the job front. The HR manager told me last week the job market isn’t want it used to be and each job has over 100 applicants, he mentioned it would likely take months.

I’m the longest serving member within the department and often step up to cover in different roles due to my level of expertise. I’m a people manager in the i-gaming industry and manage a team from all different departments.

I'd definitely take the redundancy, it sounds like you may well end up looking for a different job in a year or two anyway, so do it now and get the benefit of a year's pay on top.

I was made redundant after 10 years in my role. It was actually the best thing that happened to me. I probably wouldn't have left of my own accord as I was too worried about going somewhere else and not liking it. I've ended up in a job I enjoy a lot more now and with a much better work life balance

He's not exactly a reliable independent source is he?

Have you spoken to recruiters or tested the market yourself?
