New manager

Hi have been working in a role going on 2 years. It’s well paid and I inadvertently became head of that team. I have a new manager who looks after a few functions including mine. This person is really young and has no experience of my area and so I really don’t think I can learn much from them. They seem nice enough, came to the role externally - I feel pretty uninspired. I potentially have a new role which will be an improvement of my current title and salary. I would miss my team and the benefits are not as good as it is a smaller operation. They would compensate for this in terms of increased salary. Business is not great in my job and we’re seeing a lot of lay offs so I am concerned. Lay offs however could happen in new place. Not sure whether to stay and try and get a job that feels more ‘right’ or take a chance! I want to retire early (in the next 5 years) so uptick in salary will mean I can really contribute more to pension fund? Plus have never felt positive about the roles so much crap has gone down in the last 2 years and DH has told me I’ve been the most despondent he’s seen me.

If your goal is to retire soon, I would take the easiest, safest option, and hopefully just coast for the next five years! Unless the other option is significantly more money. Significant to me would be at least 10k, but if it's potentially unstable then the extra money is meaningless if you get paid off.
