What kind of leader are you?

I was asked this in a recent interview and really struggled! I have a large team and lots of management experience but have probably been a bit too focused generally on getting things done, rather than analysing my behaviour.
I would say ‘collaborative and inclusive’ as I like to make sure everyone gets their voice heard but not sure if this is a good thing in an interview context and makes me sound like I’m not assertive or don’t know my mind.
How would you answer this? Context is a public sector interview

Collaborative and inclusive is good. You then need to back it up with some situational examples that demonstrate a few of the things that means to you

In that you could include how you set strategy, goals, smart objevtives for your team. ( eg set broad team goals and then work with them to set there's and agree where you will help them, where they can handle themselves etc)
How you work with them so they achieve their best results for company and themselves
How do you help them if failing in a task
What do you do for high performers - how do you motivate and encourage them
What happens if you have difficult team member who doesn't want to collaborate or be included?
How do you make big decisions - ok to collaborate but how do you do that?
What if things aren't going well - how do you motivate the team?

It's a good question as should help them and you get a sense of culture. I would be miserable working in a place where my natural style is not appropriate most of the time. I sometimes have to be more directive and just tell people what needs to be done but I'm still collaborating with the team to support them

Btw my context is private decor/corporste but I'm sure it's similar

I'm public sector and have won some awards for leadership (voted for by staff). Inclusive and collaborative is spot on imho but alongside that you need to know what it is you are trying to achieve and how to articulate it and measure progress towards it.

I think the mistake leaders can make is to be too prescriptive about the route to success and stifle their teams creativity and motivation.

Thank you - these are incredibly helpful answers.
Good to get a sense that I’m roughly on the right track.
