Grievance against manager

I'm working my notice have had some trouble with HR over holiday days. They won't pay in lieu and won't let me take them at the end in one block. They want me to basically work three /four day weeks over six weeks to use them up incrementally. I'm being made to feel unreasonable for saying I don't want to do that, as I can't then use them for a true break. My manager, to shut me down, has sent an email copying HR accusing me of turning against my employer. I feel bullied, and don't think I'm being unreasonable. Should I let it go or raise a grievance? I'm not expecting much of I do complain and know it will make things tougher in reality. But I am getting too old to put up with things like this without speaking up. Or am I overreacting?

Your employer can tell you when to use your holiday as long as they give you twice as much notice as the number of days. Eg 2 weeks notice to use 1 week.

I would think you are better off trying to negotiate a half way position, ie using them in a block but not at the end of Thursday Friday before a weekend and then Mon -wed or similar. (Depends on your work pattern etc).

I think a grievance will not bring any satisfaction or meaningful result and will take a bigger emotional toll on you.

don’t raise a grievance if you’re leaving, just take the annual leave when they want you to, work out your notice in peace and then leave.
