Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for careers that could be suggested to someone who has always dreamt of joining the army but failed the medical?

the physicality of the army was part of the attraction and my experience is very much of sedentary jobs!!

Is it worth appealing?

DSS was told that medical appeals are often successful... so unless it's something extremely limiting, hope may not be lost.

thank you! Interesting to know!!

If he is going to appeal, he needs to know exactly why they failed him.

How did you get on Op ?

does he play any instruments at all to a decent standard ? Because if so would a career in the Royal Corps of Army Music be an option ? That's what DD14 wants to do although she's been playing a long time so appreciate that might not be an option

With all kindness, if he’s not very good with people the Army might not have been right for him anyway. It’s hardly the kind of environment where you can do your own thing, or not engage in a socially acceptable way.

Offshore work. Geophysical surveying, windfarm installation engineer, cable laying, oil & gas, merchant navy, pilot (the marine kind), mining engineer. They're all working away with strict rules, a tight team or crew and clear goals. Train engineering or driver is similar but shifts rather than working away.
