Just that really. Wondering whether you work for a central department and are able to wfh full-time, as a reasonable adjustment.

WFH in the CS 100% of the time can be done as a reasonable adjustment, job depending.

You couldn't, for example, work on national security issues and expect to WFH. Working on fishing policy or badger culling or writing PQ answers all day? Yeah, 100% doable. So if you're going to do it, apply for a job that involves something like that. Some jobs will specifically say you need to be in the office at LEAST 80% of the time. If you then apply for them and put in an RA request re. flexible working, they will not respond well. Best case scenario is they shuffle you off into some shitty role where you can do no damage. Worst case scenario - you get PAPED out the organisation.

It very much depends on the role and department. My friend is in the probation service and is in a permanent WFH role (her base office is in Yorkshire and she lives in the North East.

My role with a government agency is hybrid, they will only
allow WFH temporarily to allow for a temporary period of adjustment to a new condition etc. It would be expected that you would be working towards ways to return to the office during that time. Eg exploring transport options etc.

BTW most Grade 7’s are expected to lead by example and be office based unless you are doing a technical role.

@pickledwillies you and I are in exactly the same situation! I am (was) also a high performing SEO in a policy role. I've had long covid for two years. I had a failed return to work last year and am on a phased return now but work have made it very clear that they will not let me work part time at the end of the phased return and I am not confident at all that they will let me wfh.

The DD I had who was a real champion of mine has left and I think I am a problem to them now, my post has been unfilled and every time I take sick leave I continue to accrue annual leave. I totally get it but while I can do my job from home there is absolutely no way I could manage a commute and full day at the office. Would you mind if I pm-ed you? Would love to compare notes
