Working in a care home

Anyone working in a care home as a nurse? I've always worked in the NHS but I moved somewhere else rural and one of my few options is a nursing home. Salary is 42K. Is there a possibility to earn higher wages after some time? Progression like in the nhs?
Thank you.

I would advise against it, if you can possibly stay with the NHS. What's the post? Deputy Manager? The only progression will be to Manager. Depending on who owns the Nursing Home, you might struggle to get your training days in for revalidation as well. Plus there's the CQC inspections and all the hassle of funding. I worked in a nursing home for 18 months when my children were little and I wasn't impressed. If it's a good, well run, well funded home, it might be different though.

Post it's staff nurse. I'm a single mum ( moved due to DV) and I can't go back to my old job.

Hard work low pay. NHS is better for a nurse.

I hope it a better care home than the one my dh was incarcerated in. It was not v good despite claims that the food was supposedly excellent. It was absolutely shite, so much so that I had to bring in food for him as he would have starved otherwise.

Try and stay with the NHS. Is there a community hospital near you? Could you do district nursing or health visiting instead of being hospital based?
