Do I take this job?

I’ve been with my current company for 6 months, after being with my previous one for 15 years.

My new role is awful, terrible role and awful manager.
I’ve found something else that is much more me, similar to what I was doing previously.
It’s slightly more money, and commute is only 2 miles instead of 5 so barely any difference.

The only drawback is the benefits. I get great benefits at my current role. 32 days holiday plus b/h, 12% pension, ,10% bonus, 6 months sick pay and LTIP.

The role I’ve been offered is 25 days holiday (no option to buy more) 8% pension , 10% bonus and 10 days sick pay.

I don’t know what to do. I can’t stay in my current role, it’s making me unhappy. But the benefits are so good!
I have school age children so having 32 holidays is great.

I’m torn! I’m unsure whether to wait for something else with better benefits or just take the new role!

Any advice very welcome!
Thanks!

None of those benefits mean anything in an awful role with an awful manager. Do you actually get 6 month's sick pay straight off?

I personally feel that we spend some much of our life at work .. you should try to prioritise good work environment if you can. Appreciate some people have limited control etc

But all that to say, if the benefits are less but you'll enjoy the job more then I'd take it. It's just too awful being miserable at work

Are you really going to stay in a "terrible" job for a few extra benefits? It sounds like you'll need the 6 months of sick pay if you stay somewhere that's already made you this unhappy so soon.

You should be entitled to unpaid parental leave, so between that and the salary rise/reduced travel costs you're probably in a similar position.

You don't have to stay in the new job for 15 years, but it sounds like you'd be better off leaving where you are now. If you stay until you reach breaking point it will be harder to find a new job.

Life is too short! Don't trade your happiness for a few extra days holiday.

Yes you are all right!

Its not worth staying in a job I hate.
Thank you!

Personally I would take the job. Your happiness means more than the benefits.

I'd take the new job!

I've just swapped a flexible job with lots of holiday for arguably less benefits.

I was bored and miserable in my last job and the flexibility great holiday allowance wasn't making up for that.
