universal credit & leaving work for a valid reason

Hi all, just an advice check really please: considering leaving my current job as I was sexually assaulted by a client recently (I'm a careers adviser), an 18 year old who was a SEND specialist provision (its complex as the student has an EHCP & was sent in without his TA, so the SEND place has had to be investigated by the adult SG team)...we receive universal credit as we are on lower incomes & have a child with SEND ourselves, so receive DLA for them & money to childcare, but our income strips out most of the housing payment & standard allowance...went to jobcentre yesterday, they say its fine as this is a valid reason to resign (not safe at work), but has anyone been in a similar situation and been able to depend on UC while seeking a new job?
Have faced notice of redundancy 3 times in past & managed to find new job in 3 wks, 3 wks, then 2 wks then, but left a job to start a masters 2018 (was not on UC) & took me a year to find a job. I would prefer to take a month or two out to focus on my own tyke (some bullying at school at mo) & jobsearch, after working my notice if need be, than stay at current company, but will I defo have some income from UC if I do?

It took me forever to realise that UC didn’t mean Upper Crust or Upper Class.

Go Universal on they ass

Thanks TheMostly, I feel its right decision for our family, even money wise...we have enough stress without worrying how I will feel giving 1:1 careers guidance right now.

Love the nod to Upper Crust too, which is a train station cafe in places near me!
