Flexible working request - clarification of denial

Hello, I work in education as a Primary School teacher. I would like to request a reduction in my hours due to stress and mental health. My job is very demanding and I feel that reducing my hours would be beneficial moving forwards.

I don't want my flexible working request to be denied so would like to preempt any problems the employer may suggest.

Could anyone please clarify or give some examples (particularly ones used in teaching) of the following reasons for denial, so I can ensure I think of solutions in my application:

  • there will be a negative effect on quality
  • there will be a negative effect on the business’ ability to meet customer demand
  • there will be a negative effect on performance

The big thing is to understand how you expect the school to cover the hours you want to drop.

Not a teacher but denial examples (paraphrased)

there will be a negative effect on quality - you won't be able to do the work to a high enough standard as you don't have the specialist equipment at home.

  • you will be too tired to keep quality high if you work 10 hours in one day.

there will be a negative effect on the business’ ability to meet customer demand

  • most our customers come here for lunch so you asking to start at 1500 instead of 10:00 will leave us unable to meet this demand.

-there will be a negative effect on performance
This is a bit like the first one.
